Triangle
French loudspeaker company founded around Renaud de Vergnettes’ first commercial design in 1980. Its present catalogue separates passive hi-fi and home-cinema speakers from active connected systems, with Soissons manufacturing heritage and a growing set of turntable, installation and outdoor-audio categories.
About this resource
Triangle’s history begins with Renaud de Vergnettes developing loudspeaker prototypes in Paris and launching the 1180 in November 1980. The company later moved into production premises in Soissons, and its current site locates its workshop there. Its founder’s background was in interior design and decoration, and the history also records experiments with an amplifier line during the Soissons period. [1] [2]
The history page describes a continuing split between acoustic-development work and active speakers with built-in amplification. The homepage makes that distinction practical: passive hi-fi speakers are paired with an external amplifier, while active models are ready-to-listen systems. It also separates home cinema, custom installation, outdoor products, subwoofers, centre channels and accessories, reflecting applications beyond a conventional stereo pair. [1] [2]
Current entry points include the Solstice range, described as the new Esprit, plus AIO TWIN and CAPELLA 2 active speakers. The site also offers turntables and speaker stands or cables. Its historical account follows the creation of Magellan reference loudspeakers and the later response to digital and streaming habits. Comparing passive and active routes first helps identify whether the intended system needs separate amplification, connected playback or dedicated cinema channels. [1] [2]
