Jamo
Danish-origin speaker brand founded by Preben Jacobsen and Julius Mortensen in 1968. Its current catalogue pairs Concert-series hi-fi speakers and subwoofers with HYG Bluetooth products, preserving a Scandinavian design emphasis across component and everyday connected-audio applications.
About this resource
Jamo was founded in 1968 by cabinetmaker Preben Jacobsen and his brother-in-law Julius Mortensen. Its official story frames the brand around Scandinavian restraint, craftsmanship and attention to visual as well as acoustic design. The history includes expansion into international loudspeaker markets and more recent brand redevelopment, including its ISO 9001 certification milestone in 1991. [2]
The current homepage presents Concert Legacy and Concert Element families as the main hi-fi entry points. Concert Legacy 8 and Concert Element 50 are labelled bookshelf speakers, while Concert Element SW10 serves the subwoofer role. That component-oriented side of the range sits alongside products intended for everyday connected listening, rather than making all Jamo speakers interchangeable elements of one passive system. [1]
HYG is the clearest illustration of the latter approach. The homepage describes a combination of acoustic warmth, ambient light and textiles, and lists HYG Reflect as a Bluetooth clock speaker, HYG Flex as a Bluetooth speaker and HYG Flow as a portable waterproof Bluetooth speaker. Comparing Concert and HYG therefore clarifies intended use and connectivity before cabinet size or finish becomes the deciding difference. [1]
