Totem Acoustic
Totem Acoustic is a Montreal loudspeaker company founded in 1987, with compact monitors, floorstanders, home-theatre and architectural products. Its proprietary Torrent drivers use a distinctive magnetic structure and a direct amplifier-to-woofer path without crossover components in that section.
About this resource
Totem Acoustic was founded in 1987 and describes a history of handcrafted loudspeaker production in Montreal, Quebec. Its founder and designer Vince Bruzzese developed the original compact Model One monitor that year. The company’s stated design approach emphasises compact enclosures and a minimal signal path, with customised drivers, handmade crossovers and cabinet construction treated as related parts of the system. [1]
Torrent is a specific proprietary driver technology rather than a label applied to every Totem loudspeaker. Its magnetic structure is designed to keep the voice coil within the magnetic field over a long excursion, and Torrent-equipped designs omit crossover components in the woofer section. The technology page traces its introduction in Tribe III on-wall speakers and subsequent development for Element models; this does not mean the entire speaker has no crossover. [2]
Current entry points include Bison floorstanding, monitor and centre-channel models, and the Loon Monitor. The wider catalogue separates bookshelf speakers, solution bars, subwoofers and in-wall, in-ceiling or on-wall installation products. A dedicated Torrent-equipped section helps identify the relevant designs, while dealer and distributor locators, manuals and legacy-product information provide distinct routes for new-system browsing and existing-owner support.
