Troels Gravesen DIY Loudspeakers
Danish DIY-loudspeaker design site combining construction articles, measured development and kits supplied through Jantzen Audio. Projects are grouped by driver families and range from compact builds to large systems, while the author explicitly limits custom-design advice and reserves newer crossover component values for kit purchasers.
About this resource
Troels Gravesen DIY Loudspeakers is a Danish designer’s construction and technical resource, with articles documenting decades of speaker-building work. The introduction describes a shift toward measurement-led crossover development after PC-based equipment became available in the 1990s. Its projects cover a wide range of cabinet sizes and ambitions, rather than a single standardized kit platform. [1]
The index groups constructions around driver manufacturers including Scan-Speak, SEAS, SB Acoustics, Faital, AudioTechnology and Purifi. It connects project articles with kits through Jantzen Audio. A significant access distinction is stated explicitly: since 2014, crossover component values are supplied only with kit purchase, and schematics cannot be bought alone. Public construction coverage is therefore not equivalent to an unrestricted complete parts recipe for every design. [1]
The “choices,” “crossovers” and “tips” sections are recommended preparation before contacting the designer or attempting a large build. Gravesen says he does not recommend one speaker over another by predicting how someone else will hear it, and does not offer arbitrary driver combinations or unlisted commercial-speaker renovations. He also warns inexperienced builders about woodworking, crossover layout and wiring demands. Those boundaries make the site particularly useful as a documented project pathway, not an unlimited bespoke design service. [1]
