MOTU

About this resource

MOTU develops hardware and software for music production and is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Its official company page describes an engineering-driven business, while the product navigation includes audio interfaces, MIDI interfaces, audio software, virtual instruments and video-related equipment. This is a production-oriented resource rather than a manufacturer focused solely on domestic playback components. ^{[1] [2]}

The hardware range spans small USB interfaces and more elaborate devices with mixing, effects and audio networking. The M4 is described as a four-input, four-output USB-C interface for Mac, Windows and iOS, with a colour LCD for metering. The current OctaLite provides eight mic, line or instrument inputs, DSP mixing and optical expansion in a compact half-rack format, including operation as an ADAT optical expander. ^{[1] [2]}

Digital Performer is the software counterpart, aimed at recording, composition, film scoring, post-production and surround work. The current homepage describes version 12 with Dolby Atmos mixing, stem separation and workflow updates. Professional-use examples show networked interfaces linking stages and timecode coordinating production systems. For a first visit, the hardware and software sections establish which side of that workflow is needed; product manuals, technical notes and operating-system compatibility notices then provide model-specific setup information. ^{[1] [2]}
