Dayton Audio OmniMic V2

Dayton Audio OmniMic V2 is a calibrated USB microphone and Windows measurement-software system for speakers and listening rooms. Its tools include frequency and impulse response, distortion, reverberation, bass decay and polar plots, with software tied to the supplied microphone hardware.

About this resource

Dayton Audio OmniMic V2 combines an individually calibrated omnidirectional USB microphone with acoustic-measurement software. Developed in collaboration with Liberty Instruments, it is aimed at speaker builders, system integrators, acoustic engineers and home-theatre installers as well as hobbyists. The package includes a microphone clip, USB cable, desktop tripod and carrying case. [1]

Its measurement functions include weighted sound-pressure levels, spectrum analysis, frequency response with phase and impulse response, harmonic distortion and RT60 reverberation. Bass-decay displays are intended to identify room modes and support subwoofer-placement work, while polar plotting records output at different angles. Additional waterfall and wavelet-spectrogram views address behaviour over frequency and time rather than showing only a single response curve. [1]

Test signals can originate from the host computer or an audio CD player, and the official page links downloadable test tracks and a multichannel test DVD. Calibration files are retrieved using the microphone’s serial number. The software is specifically linked to OmniMic hardware and does not work with arbitrary measurement microphones. The published compatibility list reaches Windows 10. The page also warns that Windows must use an English language setting to open the microphone’s calibration file. [1]
