ARTA
ARTA is a PC sound-card measurement suite combining impulse and spectrum analysis, stepped-sine testing and loudspeaker impedance measurements. Version 1.9.8 became freeware in December 2024 after ARTALABS closed, so this is an available software resource rather than an active software company.
About this resource
ARTA is a collection of audio-measurement programs published on the Croatian artalabs.hr website by author Ivo Mateljan. It uses standard or professional PC sound cards to generate test signals and acquire measurements for acoustic and communication systems. The name stands for Audio Real Time Analysis, but the suite extends beyond a real-time spectrum display into loudspeaker testing and room-acoustics analysis. [1]
Three applications divide the work. ARTA measures impulse and frequency response and performs real-time spectrum analysis. STEPS uses stepped-sine excitation to measure frequency response while estimating harmonic distortion at several orders. LIMP measures loudspeaker impedance and estimates loudspeaker parameters. ARTA also provides gated-response analysis, energy-time curves, cumulative spectral-decay plots, directivity displays and speech-intelligibility measures. [1]
The official installation and support sections provide manuals, tutorials and application notes, making them practical starting points before assembling measurement hardware. A calibrated microphone enables the stated SPL-measurement functions. The homepage records that licence sales stopped in March 2024, ARTALABS closed that April and version 1.9.8 became freeware in December. The site remained retrievable for this check; its dated promise of availability during 2025 is not a guarantee of indefinite hosting. [1]
