GR-Research

DIY loudspeaker business offering speaker and servo-subwoofer kits, proprietary drivers, crossover parts and upgrade work. Its NX designs include open-baffle systems, with product pages explaining driver arrangements, cabinet flat packs and links into builder discussions.

About this resource

GR-Research began in 1995 and offers loudspeakers in kit form alongside its own driver line, crossover components and accessories. It also describes design services ranging from complete commercial product lines to individual custom projects and upgrades. The shop therefore serves builders and owners modifying existing speakers as well as customers assembling an entirely new system. [1]

The NX-Otica is a concrete example of its open-baffle work. Its description specifies GR Neo 3 tweeters, M165NQ midrange drivers and four M165 woofers. A recessed waveguide is intended to align the tweeter physically with the mid-bass voice coils and control directivity. The page distinguishes the speaker kit from the separate lower-bass role of open-baffle servo subwoofers, which it recommends for extension. [2]

Other entry points include LGK, X, NX and SUB kit families, driver listings and speaker-upgrade material. Direct Servo kits cover sealed and open-baffle H-frame applications. The NX-Otica page includes a flat pack in its kit price but explains that the cabinetry ships separately from Canada and that other shipping, duty and taxes are separate considerations. Linked development and build threads offer project-specific context rather than a blanket promise of easy assembly. [1] [2]
